The Marcela Marcelo Elementary School Drum and Lyre Marching Band has claimed the championship title for the second consecutive year at the 161st Anniversary Celebration of Pasay City’s Drum and Lyre Competition, held on December 14, 2024. This marks their second straight win, having also been crowned champions in last year’s competition.
The band’s outstanding performance earned them top honors once again, showcasing their musical talent and precision. This year’s competition, which featured various schools and community bands, highlighted Pasay City’s rich cultural heritage and the skillful artistry of local performers. The MMES Marching Band’s back-to-back victories have solidified the school’s growing legacy in the city’s annual celebration, drawing praise for their discipline and creativity.
Special recognition goes to trainers John Aron Suerte, Abenzo Dalaniel, Mark Navata, and John Lee I. Baluyot for their dedication and guidance. The band’s success is also attributed to the leadership of Mrs. Irene Parba, the band’s adviser, and the unwavering support of the MMES academic and non-academic community, as well as the school head, for their encouragement and assistance throughout the competition.
