MMES Drum and Lyre Marching Band Wins Back-to-Back Championship Titles

The Marcela Marcelo Elementary School Drum and Lyre Marching Band has claimed the championship title for the second consecutive year at the 161st Anniversary Celebration of Pasay City’s Drum and Lyre Competition, held on December 14, 2024. This marks their second straight win, having also been crowned champions in last year’s competition. The band’s outstanding performance earned them top honors once again, showcasing their musical talent and precision. This year’s competition, which featured various schools and community bands, highlighted Pasay City’s rich cultural heritage and the skillful artistry of local performers. The MMES Marching Band’s back-to-back victories have solidified the school’s growing legacy in the city’s annual celebration, drawing praise for their discipline and creativity. Special recognition goes to trainers John Aron Suerte, Abenzo Dalaniel, Mark Navata, and John Lee I. Baluyot for their dedication and guidance. The band’s success is also attributed to the leadership of Mrs. Irene Parba, the band’s adviser, and the unwavering support of the MMES academic and non-academic community, as well as the school head, for their encouragement and assistance throughout the competition. Don Raffa Finishes 6th in Itanong Mo sa Taga-Pasay Quiz Bee 2024 Pasay City, December 13, 2024 — The “Itanong Mo sa Taga-Pasay Quiz Bee 2024”, a division-level competition, featured 29 schools competing for the top spot. After a rigorous contest, Don Raffa finished in 6th place. However, there was a close call as his performance was near the top rankings, and had his last answer been accounted for, he could have advanced further up the leaderboard. The quiz bee, which aimed to showcase the knowledge and intellect of Pasay’s brightest students, was a highly competitive event. Despite missing the higher spot, Don Raffa’s strong showing earned him recognition among the city’s top contestants.
